Thrill of the post...

I got such a buzz when I got home last night. The lovely Kimono Reincarnate alerted me to the fact one of my purses had been featured in the weekly MadeIt Monday New Finds newsletter.

Does this distinguish a hobbyist from a professional crafter? I still get such a thrill when someone buys something from my Etsy or Made-It shops .. and to be featured in a newsletter is such a 'name-up-in-lights-moment' and I suppose a validation, of sorts.

I also got a giggle - the doll next to my shelleyberelli purse could be me!

Hello folks, I'm posting this one in as a blogger-at-large. 

I'm in the city of churches and am buzzing about my imminent hike here. I am totally dropping off the grid for a good week or so. I was inspired by a number of sources - my mum hiked down here last year and I was captivated by her photos and stories from the trip. This was reinforced by my visiting the Hans Heysen exhibition at QAG last year.

My trip to Adelaide has got me thinking of local handmade - and I can't go on without mentioning my favourite Adelaidian, Little Viking Girl.  After featuring one of her brooches in a previous MadeIt Roulette, I ended up buying it (aka: Marjorie) and she's with me on this trip! I think all of my family have at least one shelleyberelli bag. I love giving handmade presents, but I am aware the novelty sometimes wears a bit thin, especially when my brother would prefer an i-tunes gift card! 

The arrival of a new niece just over a year ago has opened up a world of sewing. These are usually one-offs as I don't want to cut anyone's lunch, market wise, but I'm having fun planning outfits and toys to sew for her. Here are the cushions I made for her this Christmas.
